Over the past few years I’ve been writing a series of notes based on mine, my family’s, my friend’s and my past and present colleague’s experiences of business, business leaders and business teams. They started off as ‘self-help’ notes for me to learn from and use in my own career but I’ve given myself a project of ‘practising what I preach’ and relaunching my blog and so the notes make a good list of topics to write about. I’ll also be writing about industry and world news and my analysis and opinions.
In this first post I thought it would be useful to give you a brief catch up of who I am, a little introductory autobiography. I describe myself as a Digital Technology Specialist. I work with digital solutions both from a technical and development side and also a strategy and marketing campaign side. The wide range of requirements needed to deliver a solution from planning through build to a live campaign and analysis enable me to have exciting access to all areas of business and different business teams and business leaders. I find this access exciting and try to be as much of a sponge as I can be.
The people who become my inspiration and sources of knowledge range from internationally renowned entrepreneurs, business leaders, scientists, educators and self confessed ‘geeks’ through to my family, friends and colleagues. We all have a lot to learn from each other and we all should realise that we are the best university you could ever attend. On the point of universities, I never went to one, or higher education college (apart from a few months when I went to a university college in London before I got frustrated with the slow pace of learning). I pretty much went straight from school into work. It didn’t take me long to get to a ‘professional’ job and I am now amazed that its been 12 years working in business and learning from it. I don’t feel I’ve missed out on eduction, far from it. I think ‘getting my hands dirty’ from a young age has been the best form of education for a person like me. I don’t rule out some form of university in my later life but for now I’m having far too much fun learning from the real world and real people in real situations.
I’m excited to get started with this blog again. My blog used to be an exercise in SEO practises and articles were focused around learning the ins and outs of the digital marketing world. I feel I’ve learned a lot more now and have found my voice as an author to write some articles at you will find interesting. I welcome comments and suggestions, I believe in constructive criticism so don’t hold back. In fact my notes are formed from observations and constructive criticism.
Finally for this post, I hope my blog and publishing of my notes prove as useful to you in your careers as they are proving in mine, see you here again very soon!
